One more..

..night until we move into our new house.
I am so excited I can barely stand it.  I have been looking at millions of decorating blogs, spending countless hours on pinterest and just daydreaming lots of decorating daydreams.
One of our friends has been SO clutch for us to let us stay in her house for the month and it's been fun having a roommate.  But I am so ready to be in the new house!! I am ready for some normalcy back in my life.  Call me crazy, but I just like a routine.  I like to know where things go, and not feel like I am being an annoyance to someone else.

Deep Fried

A lotta deep fried stuff...
Yes, I am from the South and it is well known that we deep fry everything.
But it seems that this guy, Henry Hargreaves, took it a little too far.  He is deep frying applicances.. and get this.. He's not even from the South!! Actually he is from New Zealand.
That goes to show you, people will do anything to fit in.
Deep Fried Mac?

Traveling to America?

I read this post earlier today and thought it was very interesting.
We never think it's unusual to read travel blogs and guide books to learn about other cultures before we visit, but it is cool to read the thoughts about America and what things seem to be important enough for them to be called out.

"It is usually inappropriate to join a table already occupied by other diners, even if it has unused seats; Americans prefer this degree of privacy when they eat. Exceptions are cafeteria-style eateries with long tables, and at crowded informal eateries and cafes you may have success asking a stranger if you can share the table they're sitting at. Striking up a conversation in this situation may or may not be welcome, however."

Us Americans do like our space.  Interesting Read.

Will and I started our hunt for a new house around the end of March.  I have been checking out every home website that I could get my hands on.  Some of my favorites ended up being: Redfin, Truila, Zillow  Other websites that I would recommend are: Neighborhood Scout, Crime Reports, Great Schools, and Patch.
Will and I would go look at houses then we would stop and eat something quick and discuss what we liked or didn't like about each one.  One night at La Fonda's we made a list of our must-haves were for the perfect house.
Decatur House
We started looking at houses in the Inman/Candler park area which is where we really wanted to be.  But we were not able to find anything that fit what we were looking for in our price range.  So we decided to broaden our search to include some surrounding areas including, Decatur, Buckhead, Piedmont Heights, Morningside, and Ashford Park.  Now I know more neighborhoods than I ever even knew existed before.
After a lot of looking, we thought we found our home in Deactur and we put in an offer on this beautiful house. We thought we had it, even to the point of we told my entire family on Mother's Day that we were moving to Decatur!  But God had other plans for us.
This whole process has taught me a lot about patience.  My prayer through this all has been "God please guide me to the house you want Will and I to be in.  If this house is not the right house for us, please let it fall through.  I trust that you will lead us to where you want us to be." When the Decatur house fell through I do believe that Julia was more upset than me.  She thought I would be devastated, but really it was the opposite feeling for me.  I felt that it just wasn't meant to be.  So the search continued..
We carried on and looked at many more beautiful houses.  Side note - I LOVE looking at houses.  I very much enjoy home tours, and when you are looking for a house it is like you get to tour many many beautiful homes at your leisure.  I very much enjoy the entire process.
Buckhead house
Will and I started to think that it might be better for us to look at some homes that had a few issues that we could correct over the years.  We looked at a few fixer-uppers, but it didn't take us long to decide that wasn't the life we wanted.  Then we found a house in Buckhead that we thought had potential, but it did have some issues so we put a pretty low offer on it and waited. We had a few back and forth negotiations with this house, but in the end it didn't work out either.  Honestly I think this was a blessing in disguise, I went to this house four additional times and each time I fell less and less in love with it.
As you can tell from the two houses, I LOVE brick homes.  This was something that I didn't even realize until we really started looking at homes.  I don't know why I am drawn to them, to me they just look very classic.
The last night we stayed at the condo, we were up late packing up our stuff and I got an email notification about a listing that was in the neighborhood that we originally started looking, Mary Lin elementary school district - Lake Claire.  I could tell right then that it had everything we had been looking for.  Will looked at the pictures and loved it as well.  I called Julia and told her that we wanted to put in an offer sight unseen and that we would get over to look at the house as soon as we were able to get away from the condo for a minute.  So we put in our offer, and later that day we were able to go see the house in person.  It was PERFECT!  I immediately feel in love with it and was very happy with our decision to put the offer in.  There were a few negotiations to be made, but I just knew this was our house.
The seller was out of the country on business so we had to wait a little longer than normal for answers to questions that we had, so again my patience was tried.  Instead of stressing out I said my same prayer.  "If this is not the house that you want us to be in, just let something fall through and we will keep looking."
I thought I was stressed - come to find out the seller of our house was not only out of the country for work, he was getting married the next week, and then going on a two week honeymoon.  They actually are not even coming back until 6.24 so they had to set up a rental with us making our move in date the following weekend.
Well, everything has been worked out - we closed on the house on Friday, 6.22 and we move in next weekend!  We couldn't be happier.
Will and I joke that we will now have DOORS!  The condo only had a door on the bathroom, so we are looking forward to being able to shut doors and just have a little bit of our own space.  But, I am most looking forward to all the memories that are going to be made in this beautiful house.  And I can't wait to start decorating!!
Oh, and cooking - check out this kitchen!! There will be many more What's for Dinner posts coming!

We are even looking forward to doing the yardwork.  I'll keep you posted on how long that lasts. I am thinking the newness of working on the yard will wear off in about 3 months.

Of course there are (many) more pictures, but I am going to wait to post them once our stuff is in the house.  Believe me, it is gorgeous!

We do hope to have lots of parties and guests so please come and see us!!
